Bad Ass Bookshelves: Creative ways to display your books (Part 1)

Sure, a book is a beautiful piece of art to bibliophiles like you or me. But what is a Rembrandt or a Picasso without a gorgeous frame around it? Okay, they're still masterpieces, but you never see plain pieces of canvas hanging in museums. Likewise, a cool or interesting bookshelf is a great way to showcase your books and express your artistic side. For the next couple of posts we are going to look at some killer bookshelves.

A Bookshelf made from Books
Here is an awesome idea: creating a bookshelf designed around the style of hardbound books. I don't think any actual books were used in the making of this piece, but the concept is really cool.

A Bookshelf and Lounge All-in-One
That moment when you finish a book is always a satisfying one, and with this innovative bookshelf design you no longer have to make that long walk back to the bookshelf. I love the idea of a lounge chair incorporated into a bookshelf, though I would probably pick something a little more cozy. Do they make bookcases out of bean bag chairs?

Whimsy with a Touch of Functionality
This innovative design gives the owner a little leeway. The flexible metal strip can be curved in any which way to accommodate any sort of place and space.

The Bee's Knees
This honeycomb shaped bookshelf is both functional as a bookshelf or whatever else you might want to put in it (I'm thinking it would make a great wine rack!). It's made out of the same stuff used to make motorcycle helmets, so the shelf is as light as it is stylish.
